No sugar. More protein. Same vibe.
Tim Hortons, I adore you, but your Boston Cream needed a glow-up. So I made one. A version that keeps all the creamy, chocolatey nostalgia and skips the crash. Think classic donut energy with modern nutrition.
This one hits like the real deal, just without the sugar. And yes, it’s stuffed with protein.

Healthy Boston Cream donuts that still feel like a treat? It’s possible, and SweetMonkfruit.co is doing the heavy lifting here.
Why This Donut Works
Traditional donuts rely on sugar for sweetness, browning, and texture. This version doesn’t.
Instead, it uses @sweetmonkfruit.co, a natural fruit-based sweetener made from monk fruit juice powder. It gives clean sweetness without the calories or bitterness you get from artificial sweeteners.
The result is a donut that’s light, fluffy, and shockingly satisfying.
If you want to cut sugar without sacrificing flavour, this recipe proves it’s possible.
Ingredients
Donuts
-
50 g oat flour
-
1.5 tsp baking powder
-
15 g @sweetmonkfruit.co
-
1.5 tsp cinnamon
-
1/2 tsp salt
-
1.5 tsp vanilla extract
-
120 g vanilla Greek yogurt
-
1 egg
Chocolate Topping
-
20 g chocolate protein powder
-
5 g cocoa powder
-
120 mL skim milk
How to Make It
1. Mix the Donut Batter
Whisk together the oat flour, baking powder, SweetMonkfruit.co, cinnamon, and salt.
Add in the egg, yogurt, and vanilla. Mix until smooth. Try not to taste-test the batter… or do. No judgement.
2. Bake
Pipe the batter into a donut mould and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 10–12 minutes.
Look for a golden top and a springy centre.
3. Make the Chocolate Topping
Stir the chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, and skim milk over low heat until you get a glossy, pourable chocolate glaze.
4. Finish
Dip, drizzle, or drown your donuts in the chocolate topping. You’re in charge of your destiny.
Final Thoughts
These Boston Cream donuts taste nostalgic but fuel your day instead of wrecking it. No blood sugar crash, no heavy feeling, no regret. Just high-protein sweetness powered by monk fruit.
If you’ve been wanting a bakery-level treat with fitness-friendly macros, this recipe is basically your new weekend ritual.
Tim Hortons, consider this my friendly competition.
